Boka bay has a number of impressive baroque palaces. The most important palaces  in Dobrota are: Dabinović ("Kokotova kula"), Milošević, Tripković, Ivanović, Ivanović-Tripković ("Centralna komisija").

The youngest among them is Palace Milosevic and is situated 2 kilometres from Kotor in the immediate vicinity of the quay at Dobrota. It was built by brothers Božan and Vido, the sons of Marko Milosevic, in the beginning of 19th century, more precisely in the year 1828.  It is mainly a Baroque building but also displays classic architecture.

The great ship ’’Nemirna’’ also jointly owned by the Milosevic brothers and the palace symbolises the last monumental evidence of the great economic and cultural era of the maritime times in Boka Kotorska.

Story about Milosevic brothers

Marko Milosevic was the father of Bozan and Vido who came from a long line of great shipmasters and tradesmen from Boka bay.  Marko had three sons: Ilija, Božan and Vido. For each of them he left  large amounts of money in Venice coins.

Ilija lived and traded in Venice because at the time it was necesary to have a presence in this city in order to build trade connections and have a presence there.   He remained in Italy througout his life and raised his family there.

Božan and Vido as sea-captains  and shipowners, were masters of their own pirate brigantines of the names "Terribile" and "Ardente" with cannons and guns on both ships.
.
Božan had been a captain since 1819. He was the owner and joint owner of the brigs "Factis non Verbis" and "Olga", barks "Favilla", "Slavija", "Vesta" and "Nemirna".

When Božan grew rich, he started to build the palace in 1828. As he did not have any of his own childran, he gave his brother Vido one half of the palace on the condition that one of Vido’s sons would become his heir.

Both brothers wanted the south part of the building. They drew three matches. Vido won. Božan did not agree with the result and suggested to draw the matches three times. Božan won the draw the second time, on the third time Vido won again and he therefore took the south side of the building.  To this day his monogram is on the south gate MV.
.
Two of Vido’s three sons died, so Vido and his wife could not keep their promise to give an heir to Bozan.   Božan then asked his other brother in Italy,  Ilija to send him one of his sons or grandsons.  Finally Ilija sends his grandson Ivan who Božan accepted as his heir.   Bozan’s heir was Ivan the son of Jozo Milosevic from Italy.  Vido’s heir was Duro his only surviving son.

Đuro had been a captain since 1854 and sailed as a master on three naves "Alessandra", "Figlia Magiore" and "Favorita". Together with Božan he built the bark "Vesta", purchased the barks "Favilla" and "Ilija" and built the bark "Nemirna". Captain Đuro Milosevic is considered to have been the last owner of sailing vessels at Dobrota as well as in Boka Kotorska, as his bark "Nemirna" outlived all other Bokelian sailing ships.

Ivan Milosevic, Božan’s foster son, was joint owner of the barks "Favilla", "Ilija" and "Nemirna". He was also a famous mathematician, astronomer and navigator. During navigation he was writting the diary which is kept in the private archive of family Milosevic.

Further history of the famous family

The sea fraternity Milosevic was seated in Dobrota from 16th  century. In the period from the 18th to the 20th century the Milosevic family had 55 seamen whereof 25 were sea captains, 4 commanders and 20 sailors. In the 19th century the family had  9 ships, among them 5 barks and 2 brigs. The bark "Nemirna" which sank in Biskaj bay in the year 1902, was the last sailing-vessel from renowned era of Bokelian sailoring. Besides seamen, the fraternity has had many qualified scientists.

One of the most notably wrecks was the sinking of the bark "Vesta" (weight 470 tons-ownership of Đuro and Božo Milosevic) in the Mramor sea on the 26th of december 1883,  with all of the crew drowned. Another wreckage was dissapearance of the bark "Nemirna" (weight 607 tons) in Biskaj bay in 1902.
